To complete the Individual Project Plan assignment later in this course, you must understand what a project is, how it works, and how to structure a project for maximum efficiency and success, as well as develop proficiency with MS Project. Given those objectives, this assignment will allow you to interact with explanatory media and software-specific tutorials to gain foundational knowledge about the operation and structure of a project, as well as to develop rudimentary skills in using project management software.
Directions:
Use the media tool “Planning: Business/Project Plan Evaluation and Development” to interact. You must complete the following tasks during this interaction to complete this assignment:
To watch three short videos, click the “1” button on the “Welcome” page. View the “Course Introduction” and “Capstone Project” Course Introduction Videos, as well as the “Business Plan Elements” Business Plan Video.
Read the sections titled “Overview of the Business Plan” and “Capstone Project.” These are accessible via a tab above the video section,
or by returning to the Course Instructions and selecting the number “2” button. This information is required for the following task. When finished, return to the “Welcome” page by selecting the “Course Instructions” tab at the bottom.
To finish the “Self-Assessment,” press the number “3” button.
After completing the “Self-Assessment,” you will be directed to the “Module 1 Assignment” screen (i.e., Topic 1 Assignment), where you will have the option to download Acrobat Reader (if it isn’t already installed) and download the PDF. Download the “Business Plan Elements Completion Form” PDF file.
Save the “Business Plan Elements Completion Form” as a PDF document to your local drive.
Complete the three sections of the form, save it, and then submit it to your instructor.
Return to the media tool to complete Section 4 after submitting the “Business Plan Elements Completion Form” (number “4” button). This option will direct you from the media to tutorials for Microsoft Project (PC) and Apple Merlin (MAC).
Start working through the MS Project tutorial as soon as possible. To successfully complete the Individual Project Plan in Topic 8, you must develop basic proficiency in this application.

You should proofread your paper. However, do not rely solely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part, and your grade will suffer as a result. Papers with a high number of misspelled words and grammatical errors will be penalized. Before submitting your paper, go over it in silence and then aloud, and make any necessary changes. It is often beneficial to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Uncorrected mistakes are preferable to handwritten corrections.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point typeface (10 to 12 characters per inch). Smaller or compressed type, as well as papers with narrow margins or single spacing, are difficult to read. It is preferable to allow your essay to exceed the recommended number of pages rather than attempting to compress it into fewer pages.
Large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are also unacceptable, waste trees, and will not fool your professor.
The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced, and have a one-inch margin on all four sides of each page. When submitting hard copies, use white paper and print with dark ink. It will be difficult to follow your argument if it is difficult to read your essay.
