My database project focuses on catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). The organization has standardized the capturing of data on CAUTIs. It has also developed protocols for use in the insertion of urinary catheters as well as prevention of CAUTIs in patient care. The hospital collects data based on subjective and objective assessments to determine the compliance rate with the developed protocols for CAUTIs. The reported rate of compliance in the unit is currently at 87%. The rate implies that the compliance is above average in the organization. It also implies the existence of consistent utilization of best practices to ensure the prevention and reduction of CAUTIs in patient care. It is important that the organization explore interventions that can be adopted to increase further the compliance rate with the interventions needed to prevent urinary catheter infection.
