Great post! It really amazes me how important and essential statistics are for healthcare.
In health care, revolutionary solutions often follow the development of new measuring and pattern-finding capabilities. For example, acquiring the capacity to assess blood glucose levels resulted in improved diabetic treatments (University of Central Florida, 2018). Florence Nightingale’s detailed assessments of hospital treatment outcomes strongly impacted nursing. Today, we’re seeing an even more dramatic shift in the healthcare industry: massive amounts of data are combined with technology that is finally sophisticated enough to evaluate them properly (University of Central Florida, 2018). Consequently, quantitative analysis’s remarkable pattern-finding capacity is reshaping the healthcare field. This trend has resulted in more substantial research, making sure supplies meet demand and saving time, money, and lives through efficiency and patient safety (University of Central Florida, 2018).
Statistics in healthcare have helped to draw conclusions from collected data to find better solutions to everyday challenges. The more data is collected, the better to not only find conclusions after a fact but to prevent them. For example, what physical symptoms tend to precede a heart attack, the physician (who will be monitoring the patient’s vital signs through wearable equipment) will be able to inform the patient when their indicators begin to trend in a concerning direction.
