Grand Canyon University DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values-Step-By-Step Guide

This guide will demonstrate how to complete the Grand Canyon University DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values assignment based on general principles of academic writing. Here, we will show you the A, B, Cs of completing an academic paper, irrespective of the instructions. After guiding you through what to do, the guide will leave one or two sample essays at the end to highlight the various sections discussed below.

How to Research and Prepare for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

Whether one passes or fails an academic assignment such as the Grand Canyon University DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values depends on the preparation done beforehand. The first thing to do once you receive an assignment is to quickly skim through the requirements. Once that is done, start going through the instructions one by one to clearly understand what the instructor wants. The most important thing here is to understand the required format—whether it is APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.

After understanding the requirements of the paper, the next phase is to gather relevant materials. The first place to start the research process is the weekly resources. Go through the resources provided in the instructions to determine which ones fit the assignment. After reviewing the provided resources, use the university library to search for additional resources. After gathering sufficient and necessary resources, you are now ready to start drafting your paper.

How to Write the Introduction for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

The introduction for the Grand Canyon University DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values is where you tell the instructor what your paper will encompass. In three to four statements, highlight the important points that will form the basis of your paper. Here, you can include statistics to show the importance of the topic you will be discussing. At the end of the introduction, write a clear purpose statement outlining what exactly will be contained in the paper. This statement will start with “The purpose of this paper…” and then proceed to outline the various sections of the instructions.

How to Write the Body for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

After the introduction, move into the main part of the DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values assignment, which is the body. Given that the paper you will be writing is not experimental, the way you organize the headings and subheadings of your paper is critically important. In some cases, you might have to use more subheadings to properly organize the assignment. The organization will depend on the rubric provided. Carefully examine the rubric, as it will contain all the detailed requirements of the assignment. Sometimes, the rubric will have information that the normal instructions lack.

Another important factor to consider at this point is how to do citations. In-text citations are fundamental as they support the arguments and points you make in the paper. At this point, the resources gathered at the beginning will come in handy. Integrating the ideas of the authors with your own will ensure that you produce a comprehensive paper. Also, follow the given citation format. In most cases, APA 7 is the preferred format for nursing assignments.

How to Write the Conclusion for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

After completing the main sections, write the conclusion of your paper. The conclusion is a summary of the main points you made in your paper. However, you need to rewrite the points and not simply copy and paste them. By restating the points from each subheading, you will provide a nuanced overview of the assignment to the reader.

How to Format the References List for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

The very last part of your paper involves listing the sources used in your paper. These sources should be listed in alphabetical order and double-spaced. Additionally, use a hanging indent for each source that appears in this list. Lastly, only the sources cited within the body of the paper should appear here.

Sample Answer for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

Every single one of us, in my view, has value. Humans were created in God’s likeness and are tasked with carrying out God’s plan for the planet. Everything happens for a reason, and I think that God has a purpose for everyone of us, even if we don’t recognize it or comprehend it. Individuals, in my opinion, have the right to make their own decisions. Abortion, in my opinion, may be justified in extreme circumstances, such as when the mother’s life is endangered by pregnancy difficulties or when the pregnancy is the consequence of rape. I believe that when two consenting adults participate in an action that is known to result in pregnancy and that pregnancy occurs, the result should be acknowledged and supported as a matter of principle and duty. My position, on the other hand, cannot supersede an individual’s right to self-determination, therefore I am pro-choice. Because they have an influence on human life, bioethical concerns, abortion, designer babies, and stem cell research are all contentious. The issue is whether these things are good or destructive to God’s creation of human life. I support stem cell research because studies show that this science has the potential to heal or cure a wide range of ailments. When the issue of “designer babies” is discussed in the context of reducing the possibility of birth malformations and disabilities, it looks to be a promising one. On the other side, prospective parents are emotionally and financially committed in this therapy. Because of this investment and medical science’s expanding ability to modify gender and other physical features, we risk enticing people into fantasizing about and attempting to make the “ideal kid”. Therefore, I don’t support” designer babies”.

Sample Answer 2 for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

The four principles are respect for autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice. My belief is nonmaleficence is most important because no one should harm anyone else. Next I would say beneficence because preventing harm to others is important. Justice would be third because fair benefits and risks should be distributed throughout society. Autonomy would be last because without the other three no one would respect anyone’s autonomy. For the Christian narrative they’d be ranked in the order of beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy, and justice. Beneficence because all actions are intended to help others. Nonmaleficence because above all is to do no harm. Autonomy because people have a right to choose based on their beliefs. Justice because distributing with fairness whether it distributive, remedial, or retributive justice. Everyone has their one views on how they should be ranked. It is important though that all are part of a healthy society and importantly a safe society.

Sample Answer 3 for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

You make a terrific point. All individuals have their way of assigning the importance of the four principles of medical ethics due to their worldview. Learning about and accommodating a patient’s cultural background into their health care (whenever possible as long as the practices will not be harmful to the patient) can also provide insight into a patient’s preferences in what the principles mean to them, their level of importance and how they should be applied in their health care.

Cultural competence is one of the must important aspects in nursing. Patients who feel their needs are being met tend to feel they have received good care. We were just talking about different cultures in my class at Merced College and what we have learned in clinicals about other cultures. During my second semester I learned that Hmong women only drink warm water and eat soup after giving birth. I now know I will ask someone who is Hmong if they want cold or warm water if I’m ever in the same situation again. We should all treat others with respect regarding their cultural preferences. Different cultures may view four principles differently than the Christian view, however we are not there to judge their views.

Sample Answer 4 for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

Hello, thank you for sharing, interesting post. all human beings created in the image of God deserve to be treated with dignity and respect (White, 2020); therefore, the principle of autonomy should be applied to provide the respect that others deserve. A healthcare professional must respect a patient’s decision with their care and treat them with the same respect.

“Ethical theories informed by a worldview will, in turn, determine what specific principles will be appropriate or useful in approaching moral problems” (Hoehner, 2020). If I were to rank the four biomedical ethics principles, I would say nonmaleficence should be on the top list. Do no harm is the first and foremost important rule to practice in the medical field. Then respect for autonomy. While taking care of patients, you must respect their decisions based on their worldviews and wants. We must inform the patient of the benefits and risks of treatment and get consent. Beneficence and Justice would come next. In the medical field you must care for your patients with their best interest and prevent any harm to them. This refers to beneficence. This “requires that one prevents harm to others, provides benefits, and balances those benefits against risks and costs” (Hoehner, 2020). And lastly, Justice, each patient shall be treated with respect no matter their situation. Fair and equitable treatment for all patients.

Sample Answer 6 for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

I agree that nonmaleficene should be at the top of the four principles. No one should do harm to others. My opinion is the others don’t matter if someone is harming others. We as health professionals are there to treat the patient not to harm them. The other principles are important but if someone is harming someone do they really matter? Autonomy goes out the window, beneficence is not happening, and yes justice can be served but the damage has already been done.

Sample Answer 7 for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

Thank you for responding to my post. I agree with you that respect for autonomy, beneficence, and justice principles do not matter if someone harms others. In certain biomedical and medical practices such as stem cell research, one human being is a means to another end. “To say that all human beings have intrinsic moral worth and dignity is to say that it is morally wrong to use one person for the mere benefit of another” (Hoener, 2020).

Sample Answer 8 for DQ: The four principles, especially in the context of bioethics in the United States, has often been critiqued for raising the principle of autonomy to the highest place, such that it trumps all other principles or values

The four principles of medical ethics are respect for autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice. Respect for autonomy is the right for an individual to have complete control over their body and mind. Beneficence is the obligation to act for the benefit of another person. “The principle calls for not just avoiding harm, but also to benefit patients and to promote their welfare” (Varkey, 2021). Nonmaleficence “requires one not to cause harm to another” (Hoehner, 2018). “The practical application of nonmaleficence is for the physician to weigh the benefits against burdens of all interventions and treatments, to eschew those that are inappropriately burdensome, and to choose the best course of action for the patient” (Varkey, 2021). Lastly, justice is the fairness of benefits and risks to the general population. “These are distribution to each person (i) an equal share, (ii) according to need, (iii) according to effort, (iv) according to contribution, (v) according to merit, and (vi) according to free-market exchanges” (Varkey, 2021).

In my opinion, I believe the order of importance in which the four principles stand are as follows (most important to least) nonmaleficence, respect for autonomy, beneficence, and justice. The Christian biblical narrative would rank the priority of the four principles: beneficence, justice, nonmaleficence, and respect for autonomy. “In the New Testament, beneficence is often referred to as charity. Christians are implored to works of beneficence, or charity, by the example of Jesus and to God’s ways of dealing benevolently with his creation” (Hoehner, 2018). “The Bible certainly supports the concept of justice. The real purpose of civil law is to guarantee an ordered social coexistence in true justice, so “that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way” (1 Timothy 2:2)” (Hoehner, 2018). “. According to the Christian worldview, each of these individuals is made in the image of God and is thereby afforded equal moral status. Each of them has significant moral status that obligates one to protect them (nonmaleficence) and care for them (beneficence), even if they cannot make decisions for themselves” (Hoehner, 2018).
