The accreditation of health care organizations is a significant task that has made accrediting agencies a major industry. The costs of securing accreditation can be significant, but the costs of not having accreditation can be even greater. In this assignment, you will discuss the costs of a health care organization being (or not being) accredited.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

Instructors will be using a grading rubric to grade the assignments. It is recommended that learners review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment in order to become familiar with the assignment criteria and expectations for successful completion of the assignment.

This assignment requires that at least two additional scholarly research sources related to this topic, and at least one in-text citation from each source be included.

Directions:

Write a paper (1,250-1,500 words) that discusses the costs of a health care organization being (or not being) accredited. Include the following in your discussion:

A summary of the purposes of accreditation and accreditation standards.

A discussion of the costs of either not securing or losing accreditation.

A research-supported evaluation of whether accreditation is worth the costs.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.
