Reflection on Learning

Attitude and opinion toward nursing research are critical to the implementation of research findings, especially evidence-based practice interventions in healthcare settings. Through this course, I have learned more about the significance of nursing research as a core aspect of providing evidence-based practice and patient-centered care to reduce costs of healthcare. Rigorous nursing research also provides a body of knowledge that assists advance nursing practice (Gatchel, 2018). These findings also help in shaping health policy and contribute to global healthcare, especially in dealing with emerging issues like new and reemerging infectious diseases like the Coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Findings from peer-reviewed studies can correct misunderstandings, pave way for novel treatment protocols and create new approaches aimed at improving pati

ent outcomes (Younas, 2017). Research helps nurses to respond to changes in the healthcare environment, health populations and government policies and regulations. Nurses with skills in research are equipped for evidence-based practice interventions to ascertain better standards for caregiving and quality care.

My facility uses evidence-based practice as it forms the foundation for improving quality care delivery and attaining better patient outcomes. The implementation of EBP in the facility allows nurses to get new learning opportunities and responsibilities through effective dissemination and sharing (Skela-Savič et al., 2020). Through nursing research, nurses get the chance to advance their studies and promote optimal care for patients.

Participating in EBP is a critical part of all nurses so that they can deliver patient-centered care. In this case, I

participate in EBP by being a member of the research team and sharing knowledge with colleagues. The implementation process is critical and having enough resources is essential to optimal operations. As such, I take time to understand new approaches to care and integrate them for optimal patient outcomes. Further, encouraging colleagues to implement these findings is essential and I strive to be a voice of reason for better understanding of the EBP process.
