Install Fedora from the iso image. Do a standard build. The server name should be set to [your last name].comdev.com. Include a screen shot of a terminal window when your system is installed.
Create TWO groups, SYSTEM (GID 1016) and MARKETING (GID 1017). Add TWO users to your system LINUST (UID602) and BILLG (UID 603). Place LINUST in the MARKETING group as his primary, place BILLG in SYSTEM. Assign both users a password.
Create a directory called CONFIGS under LINUST’s home directory. Copy all the files from the /etc directory that end in .conf, .cfg into this new CONFIGS directory
Create a file called “mytrueroot.txt” in BILLG’s home directory. This file should contain a redirected long listing of your systems true-root (/)
Change owners associated with all the files and folders in LINUST’s home directory to LINUST. Change the group associated with all the files and folders in LINUST’s home directory to the MARKETING group.
Change owners associated with all the files and folders in BILLG’s home directory to BILLG. Change the group associated with all the files and folders in BILLG’s home directory to the SYSTEM group.
For both users home directories, set permissions so that the owner has read, write and execute, the group has read permissions and others have no permissions. Make sure this change descends recursively into the file-system.
Notify all users when they log into the system that the system will be going down for maintenance at 11pm on Friday, April 14, 2006
Create data directories for the SYSTEM and MARKETING groups on the system. Make sure that the permissions are set for the group members for each to be able to access the directories.
Create a file called disclosure.txt and copy it to the top of every user’s home directory on the system. The disclosure.txt file will have the following text in the file:
