Key Elements of a Research Proposal
Key Elements of a Research Proposal
Asthma is a chronic lung disease caused by inflammation of the lower airways and episodes of airflow obstruction. Asthma episodes or attacks can vary from mild to
life-threatening. In 2007, about 7% percent of the U.S. population was
diagnosed with asthma and there have been a growing number of new cases since
that time. There are several known risk factors identified as triggers of
asthma symptoms and episodes, including inhalation of allergens or pollutants,
infection, cold air, vigorous exercise, and emotional upsets. There is also
growing evidence relating body-mass index to asthma in both children and
adults. Design a study to investigate whether there is such an association.
Choose a study design and justify the reasons you chose the design over others.
Select a statistical measure you would use to describe the association (if there is one)
between body mass index and asthma.
In addition, address:
Subject selection
Issues relating to the measurement of both the exposure and the outcome
Potential biases that the study might be prone to, and how they might be handled
Possible confounding factors and effect modifiers and how to overcome their effect
Present the information in a 750-1000-word report, using section headings where each requirement is described and justified under each of the following headings:
Study Design, Statistical Measures, Subject Selection, and Measurement Issues.
You are required to use a minimum of three scholarly resources.
Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
This assignment uses a grading rubric. Instructors will be using the rubric to grade
the assignment; therefore, students should review the rubric prior to beginning
the assignment to become familiar with the assignment criteria and expectations
for successful completion of the assignment.
You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. Refer to the directions in
the Student Success Center. Only Word documents can be submitted to LopesWrite.

Plan” by the Office of Research at Northwestern University at

A research proposal is a brief but comprehensive summary of the research which is yet to be done. It sets out the central issue for the research. It is a detailed description of the raised issue and how will it be solved. It contains all the key elements of the process of the proposed research study as it is the most important document for the candidate which has to be approved by the university committee to approve, to proceed further on the research. The proposal has to be well-structured in chronological order of the title, abstract, introduction, literature review, hypothesis, methodology, timeline, resources required (if any), result, and references.
The title has to be concise and should direct the reader to know about the research. It should be like a mini-introduction for the reader to know what he is going to read. The title should be precise and crisp for the reader to get a definite idea of the research proposal. The title should be specific with the correct choice of words and should serve the committee with the complete idea of the research which is to happen. It should evoke the reviewer’s interest to look forward to the details of the proposal. You can even title it after completing the whole proposal to be as precise as possible.

What would spirituality be according to your own worldview? How do you believe that your conception of spirituality would influence the way in which you care for patients?
According to Hart (1994, p. 23), spirituality is the way a person lives out their beliefs in daily life and the way they “respond to the end conditions of individual existence” (Bożek, Nowak, , & Blukacz, 2020).A sense of peace and well-being are generated by spirituality, which is defined by faith, a search for life’s meaning and purpose and a feeling of belonging with one another. Through spiritual connection life satisfaction may increase or make it easier to accommodate illness or disability. Although, the idea of spirituality encompasses a huge range of personal experiences and convictions. Every individual has a unique perspective on spirituality. We may develop more comprehensive and compassionate healthcare systems by addressing the spiritual needs of our patients.
Nurses are being required more and more to recognize and respond to spiritual issues because of the emphasis on holistic care and meeting the requirements of each individual patient. Physical healing, pain relief, and personal development might result from attending to the patient’s spiritual needs. The nurse must attend to the patient’s emotional as well as physical demands in order to meet their total needs. The way in which we provide patient care would be influenced by our personal understanding of spirituality. For example, my spiritual beliefs consist of treating everyone with respect, compassion, care and equality regardless of their health status, race, spiritual view, gender, etc. I can take that into consideration into my practice by providing culturally competent, holistic care so I can better understand what I can do to assist the patient’s physical, spiritual, and mental wellbeing. Further, hospitals are held liable by The Joint Commission (TJC) for upholding patient rights, which includes making accommodations for cultural, religious, and spiritual values. The bodies, minds, and spirits of patients must all be taken into consideration by healthcare practitioners and systems (Swihart, Yarrarapu, & Martin, 2021).
