Synopsis
SQLite consist of a software library that assist to implement self-contained, zero configuration, transactional SQL database engine. Its source code requires to keep with public domain. In the healthcare system, databases are essential in managing patient’s data. With the increase in the use of evidenced-based practices, most hospitals and pharmaceutical industries are generating a lot of data which ought to be protected from cybercriminals. Development of databases therefore require the observation of high security standards as well as well as the efficient ways of entering and obtaining information (Ball et al., 2015). Databases are also meant to protect the information and to avail them whenever possible for analysis in the determination of the best practices in the medical system. Databases can be used to compile clinical data and reports related to either quality measures or pharmaceutical products and utilization.
User roles
Users of this system will have different functions. Patient will have access to the healthcare unit from where he or she is describing how he or she feels. The physician will prescribe to the patient or generate a lab request.
These objectives will affect the data model in different ways, they will enhance quality management of patient’s information and the general practice in the healthcare system.
SQLite Prototype (Healthcare system):
I have created prototype for the same using an online tool. In the below prototype diagram, I have created two tables, two user reports, data dictionary, two users, and added data fields accordingly.
- Arrow used for design decisions and show how these elements are interconnected to each other and arrows also decide the dependency of each table and record.
- Added constraint to restrict the specified fields so that maintain the data integrity and connect the database tables.
- Chosen appropriate datatypes for each attribute.
- Fill the input data for users retrieve records
- Finally, connected each item as per their requirements in database.
Through this prototype, we can create database in SQLite database for the same where one can add tables, data dictionary, and table attributes as well real data. Now, using queries we can modify (add, alter, or delete) data inside the database tables and can generate reports as per our requirements.
