NRSG 314 Unit 1 – Discussion Board
Primary Discussion Response is due by Thursday (11:59:59pm Central).
This is a terrific time to meet your fellow classmates, to learn a little bit about them, and for them to learn about you. Please introduce yourself in the Introductory Discussion Board that can be accessed via the Discussion Board link to the left. If you are not sure how to get started, begin by discussing your background and why you are in school. Feel free to mention your proudest accomplishments, and offer advice to others. Say something unique or fun about yourself!
You may upload a picture by clicking “Post File” when you respond to the Discussion Board. Images in JPEG form work well, but the Discussion Board will accept other formats, too.
Get started today. For purposes of your attendance, please post your introduction into this discussion by Thursday.
You are encouraged to participate in this thread throughout the term.
Greetings to all!
I look forward to supporting your journey through this course. Please feel free to call me Carey or Dr. Clark. My pronouns are she/her.
I have been a nurse since 1994 with a wide background in clinical experiences, including acute medical-surgical, pediatrics, psychiatric, home health, hospice, parish nursing, and camp nursing. I consider myself to be a hospice nurse at heart and I hope to return to the bedside in the future. I have taught online since 2005 and I was an online nursing student back in the pioneer days of this approach, so I do understand the benefits and challenges from both the student and instructor perspectives. I am an advanced holistic nurse board certified and I am a registered yoga teacher and Reiki Master. My research interests are focused on caring in nursing education and medical cannabis care. I am the editor of the textbook Cannabis: A handbook for nurses published this year by Wolters Kluwer. I studied with Jean Watson and I am a huge fan of the Theory of Human Caring.

I live in Western Maine (almost New Hampshire!), having moved here from California back in 2010. I live with 2 musicians (my 2 teen daughters),1 tuxedo cat, and 1 pocket beagle. I enjoy hiking, jogging, yoga, skiing, meditation, and making bread in my bread machine.
Here’s to a great learning journey together!
Hello everyone! My name is….. I live in the state of Oregon. I am a mother of 3 beautiful children, (a 32-year-old daughter, a 16-year-old son, and a 13-year-old daughter) a wife of 20 years, and a Med-Surg nurse of 23 years. I enjoy being a nurse but have found in the last couple of years I have become burnt out, my body is beginning to break down, and my moral compass has been challenged. I have been passionate about educating staff and patients throughout my career. Being back in school has been a wonderful experience. It has touched on the different areas of nursing and has opened my eyes to different career goals. Because I love to teach, I would like to continue doing this by educating our future nurses. I have had to let teaching opportunities pass me by due to my lack of education, therefore, I am pursuing my BSN and eventually my Master’s in nursing.
I have been the co-lead of our Unit Based Team (UBT) for the last 7 years. This position has given me firsthand experience with Quality Improvement (QI). I am excited to take this class to gain more knowledge of QI that can help me further in my position.
My name is Sarika, and I live in Southern California and work as a charge nurse in a med/surg/tele unit. We were the covid unit for the past 2 years, but now we have slowly converted back to our usual. I have 8 year old twins who will be going back to school this week, so I am looking forward to that. In my spare time, my husband and I love live music so we attend many concerts as we have a broad range of music interests. We also eating lots of diverse cuisines, and we love to cook as well. I am a huge fan of baking so my favorite stress relief is baking up something challenging. The last thing I made was maritozzi.
I look forward to this class as I am in the nursing quality council at work and we are continuously striving to improve and provide quality care. Thank you!
