Compromised patient safety and quality, increased costs and rising rates of uninsured and underinsured individuals are issues that require effective policies to tackle and ensure that all Americans have better health care outcomes. The fundamental strategies should focus on improving overall public reporting of adverse events that include medication errors, measurement of performance and increased use of value-based models for providers. One of the strategies is expansion and acceptance of evidence-based practice interventions as they are proved to work and offer quality care outcomes. Secondly, the having reporting models through Centers for Medicare and Medicaid allow stakeholders to develop effective approaches after sharing information on the best way to protect patients and enhance their safety. Performance management should be based on quality and not quantity (Erickson et al., 2020). This implies that value-based payment should be founded on quality and effective approaches to enhance accessibility like increased need for nurse practitioners to have full practice authority and focus on vulnerable and susceptible populations like those in rural areas and low-income individuals.
Health care payment and delivery models have significant impact on quality of care. These include accessibility and

ability to pay for the services provided by nurses and other professionals. Effective models like accountable care organizations (ACOs) and retail clinics enhance quality as they allow nurse practitioners to offer services to different patient population and enhance accessibility. Payment models like value-based payment and bundled payment ensure that providers get paid based on the quality of service offered not quantity (McLawhorn & Buller, 2017). Therefore, these models ensure that providers enhance quality care to get reimbursement from federal agencies like the CMS. The models also improve access and ratio of providers to patients in certain areas.
