NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives

Walden University NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives-Step-By-Step Guide

This guide will demonstrate how to complete the Walden University NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives  assignment based on general principles of academic writing. Here, we will show you the A, B, Cs of completing an academic paper, irrespective of the instructions. After guiding you through what to do, the guide will leave one or two sample essays at the end to highlight the various sections discussed below.

How to Research and Prepare for NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives

Whether one passes or fails an academic assignment such as the Walden University NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives  depends on the preparation done beforehand. The first thing to do once you receive an assignment is to quickly skim through the requirements. Once that is done, start going through the instructions one by one to clearly understand what the instructor wants. The most important thing here is to understand the required format—whether it is APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.

After understanding the requirements of the paper, the next phase is to gather relevant materials. The first place to start the research process is the weekly resources. Go through the resources provided in the instructions to determine which ones fit the assignment. After reviewing the provided resources, use the university library to search for additional resources. After gathering sufficient and necessary resources, you are now ready to start drafting your paper.

How to Write the Introduction for NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives

The introduction for the Walden University NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives  is where you tell the instructor what your paper will encompass. In three to four statements, highlight the important points that will form the basis of your paper. Here, you can include statistics to show the importance of the topic you will be discussing. At the end of the introduction, write a clear purpose statement outlining what exactly will be contained in the paper. This statement will start with “The purpose of this paper…” and then proceed to outline the various sections of the instructions.

How to Write the Body for NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives

After the introduction, move into the main part of the NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives  assignment, which is the body. Given that the paper you will be writing is not experimental, the way you organize the headings and subheadings of your paper is critically important. In some cases, you might have to use more subheadings to properly organize the assignment. The organization will depend on the rubric provided. Carefully examine the rubric, as it will contain all the detailed requirements of the assignment. Sometimes, the rubric will have information that the normal instructions lack.

Another important factor to consider at this point is how to do citations. In-text citations are fundamental as they support the arguments and points you make in the paper. At this point, the resources gathered at the beginning will come in handy. Integrating the ideas of the authors with your own will ensure that you produce a comprehensive paper. Also, follow the given citation format. In most cases, APA 7 is the preferred format for nursing assignments.

How to Write the Conclusion for NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives

After completing the main sections, write the conclusion of your paper. The conclusion is a summary of the main points you made in your paper. However, you need to rewrite the points and not simply copy and paste them. By restating the points from each subheading, you will provide a nuanced overview of the assignment to the reader.

How to Format the References List for NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives

The very last part of your paper involves listing the sources used in your paper. These sources should be listed in alphabetical order and double-spaced. Additionally, use a hanging indent for each source that appears in this list. Lastly, only the sources cited within the body of the paper should appear here.

Sample Answer for NURS 8502 Practicum Objectives

The clinical practicum is a vital part of every PMHNP program since it provides MSN students with a learning environment to acquire new skills and develop their previous ones. Learners need to set objectives on the skills they wish to acquire by the end of the practicum. Objectives provide directions for clinical practicum and are used to establish if the student has attained the skills required for the practicum. The purpose of this assessment is to outline objectives for the clinical practicum and describe the key activities associated with the practicum objectives.

Practicum Objective

The identified objectives for the clinical practicum include:

  1. Applying evidence-based practice (EBP) in developing at least ten patient care plans. The objective aligns with the Walden course objective on translating research findings to direct evidence-based nursing practice (Walden University, n.d.).
  2. The second objective is to develop and assess new patient care approaches based on nursing theories. It aligns with the course objective on utilizing advanced nursing practice knowledge to implement methodologies to improve population health outcomes (Beeber et al., 2019).
  3. The third practicum objective is to apply health information technology and systems to improve and support the care of psychiatric patients.
  4. The fourth objective is to evaluate the impact of practice policies and procedures on meeting the health needs of psychiatric patients. It aligns with the course objective of exhibiting leadership to facilitate collaborative teams for improving patient and population health (Edwards et al., 2018.).
  5. The fifth objective is to develop and execute effective plans for practice-level practice initiatives that will enhance the quality of patient care delivery.
  6. The last objective is to develop and advocate for a health care policy that will help handle social justice and equity issues in mental health care. It is in line with the course objective of advocating for the advancement of nursing and healthcare policy by sharing science-based knowledge with healthcare policymakers (Walden University, n.d.).

Key Activities Associated With Your Practicum Objectives

The key activity associated with the first objective is to evaluate EBP findings that support various care interventions in psychiatric patients. Activities linked with the second objective include examining nursing theories that will guide nursing practice and integrating nursing science with nursing theories (Becker et al., 2018). The third objective will be achieved by examining the efficacy of patient care technology used in mental health care and selecting and using information systems/technology to assess care programs. In addition, the fourth objective will be accomplished by evaluating the cost-effectiveness of psychiatric care interventions (Beeber et al., 2019). I will also develop and assess health care delivery approaches that meet the needs of psychiatric patients.

Activities to accomplish the fifth objective will include employing advanced communication skills to direct quality improvement and patient safety initiatives in the organization. I will also assess the cost-effectiveness of patient care initiatives. Lastly, the activities for the sixth objective will include analyzing health policies related to mental health and psychiatry (Becker et al., 2018). In addition, I will educate policymakers about psychiatric health and the need for specific policies to improve mental health outcomes in patients and the general population.

Conclusion

The practicum objectives focus on utilizing EBP and applying it in clinical practice to improve health outcomes. They also focus on applying knowledge and skills in leadership, health information technology, and policy to improve clinical practice. Achieving the objectives will improve my skills in EBP, leadership, health informatics, advocacy, and policy-making.
