Volunteering at Alabama Veterans Museum and Archive was a crucial way to give back to my community and also associated with numerous personal benefits. There are various connections between my college experience and my volunteer experience. One connection is the development of skills. Volunteering assisted me to grow in my learning. I was able to get real-world experience and implement vital habits such as problem-solving, leadership, and time management. Volunteering provided me with the opportunity to implement classroom learning in hands-on scenarios with real implications. The other connection is the building of social skills. Students get enough time to cooperate and interact with others and build better communication and relationships in both experiences. Both college and volunteer experience also lead to balanced lives. College experience tends to be stressful because students learn to manage time, become independent, and explore the real world.
