You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

Community Resources

Several organizations have been able to work better with local communities worldwide to help improve quality of life and promote the health and safety of the community members in times of disasters. Through these organizations, nurses have been able to string pillars and advocate for the community’s affected people. As a result, nurses must be mindful of how such non-governmental organizations operate to improve local lives. Additionally, nurses the nurse working with such organizations must also be aware of other factors that directly or indirectly impact the services it offers and how they influence the lives of the community members (Lane, 2018). By being familiar with these organizations, nurses can provide help through volunteering or any other working form. In this paper, the selected organization is UNICEF. Therefore, this paper aims at discussing how UNICEF impacts the local community, how its vision and mission improve public health and safety, and how it promotes equality to improve the health of the local people.

How an Organization’s Work Impacts the Health and/or Safety Needs Of A Local Community

The roles being played by UNICEF are significant, and they revolve around essential issues to do with the health and safety needs of the local community. For instance, UNICEF has helped in several activities revolving around children’s social services and health. Besides, the organization has had a positive impact on both women’s and children’s lives by improving their health and safety needs. The provisions of health services by UNICEF have significantly helped reduce mortality rates due to improved health care service delivery (Lane, 2018).

UNICEF has made significant steps in donating approximately two million dollars to various local communities worldwide, thus improving and strengthening both children’s and women’s health systems in the community. Therefore, most people have been helped both socially and economically to improve their lives. Through UNICEF programs, most people have received social protection, including children. There has been a remarkable improvement in healthcare service delivery among the welfare of both children and women. Therefore, with UNICEF’s help, it has been possible to promote excellently promote the health care service delivery t both women and children in the local communities.

How The Organization’s Mission and Vision Enable It to Improve Public Health and Safety

UNICEF’s organization seeks to advocate for the protection and the rights of children (Unicef, 2019). The organization also helps little children reach their potential growth, meet their basic daily human needs, and expand their potential to access vast opportunities. Secondly, UNICEF aims at providing safety and aid to women and children in managing crises. In this context, UNICEF’s role is to help those people in the society who are disadvantaged in cases of issues that are doing with disaster, violence, and poverty. With the help of UNICEF’s mission, the organization aims to ensure there is ethics on the issues affecting the behaviors of children and promoting the international standards. Besides, the organization also aims to provide immense support in occurrences of situations that require the protection of children’s rights and safety (WHO, 2018).

On the other hand, UNICEF’s mission is to make significant differences in the lives of children. Through the organization’s mission statements, the main focus of UNICEF is to create a better world where children at every level of society and recognized and their rights are protected equally. Moreover, UNICEF’s mission statement focuses on children from disadvantaged communities and tries to improve their lives. The children’s safety is also a concern for UNICEF; this is enhanced through the implementation of the organization’s mission and vision. In many cases, the death of children worldwide occurs because of a lack of better health (Lane, 2018). Therefore, when UNICEF’s vision and mission are implemented, such claims are minimized in society. As a nurse, working with UNICEF would be intriguing since it will help me provide the best health services to the children hence improving their lives.

The Impact of Funding Sources, Policy, And Legislation On the Organization’s Provision of Services

There are numerous impacts in the community that are significant and associated with UNICEF’s funding services, policy services, and legislation. The help coming from UNICEF funding has helped improve the delivery of health care services through several healthcare facilities and institutions. These facilities have played a significant role in providing community health services for women and children (Lane et al., 2018). With the increased funding in rural areas, the mortality rate among children and women has been reported to be on the decline.

Moreover, UNICEF has been at the forefront to ensure equitable access of women and children in terms of nutritional status through their constant financial support.  In this context, malnutrition issues among women and children have been reduced in the community, thus improving their general health status. As a nurse working with the UNICEF organization, it will be a privilege to help fight matters to do with hunger by providing the local community with essential nutrition to boost the health status of the women and children (WHO, 2018).

The policies of UNICEF include eradication of women and children’s poverty and vulnerability in the local communities. With the assistance of UNICEF, the social services of community health are protected. When natural disasters occur in the community, UNICEF has been at the forefront of ensuring the affected area’s security. Women and children are the most affected people in natural disaster cases, and their assistance is critical for UNICEF. This organization has often come out to help the children and women who have been affected by the calamity. The organization’s legislation issues aim at promoting equality in the provision of health services to children and women among various local communities across the world. I would work with this UNICEF to improve the legislation and health policies affecting the local communities.

The Organization’s Ability to Promote Equal Opportunity and Improve the Quality of Life in The Community

In all the countries UNICEF has put its operations, its main aim has been to create and promote equal opportunities for everyone, especially children and women. Globally, UNICEF is operating in about one-hundred and thirty countries. The organization’s ability to provide services to the local community has dramatically helped the organization expand children and women’s opportunities, thus enabling them to reach their full potentials (Masic, 2018).

As a nurse working with the organization, I would take the opportunity to enhance and improve the quality of healthcare services being delivered to the local communities. I would take the chance to avail myself and help the local community members in times of emergencies such as natural disasters. With the organization’s help, there has been a reduced number of deaths being reported from children and pregnant mothers. The organization has also been in the frontline to help reduce inequalities in gender between girls and boys. Inequalities have been reported in the local communities for many years leading to disparities in health services and resource distribution. Working with UNICEF will also be fulfilling since it will help me promote equality in society, allowing everyone to have equal opportunities to the limited resources available in the area.
