RE: Discussion – Week 3

COLLAPSE

Interactions among Nurses and Specialists

There are various fields represented in the healthcare profession by nurses and other types of specialists who carry out their duties and practices relevant to their field. Nurses are critical to patient care while quality is rigorously practiced and upheld to meet the needs of the patient (Darvish, Bahramnezhad, Key

hanian, & Navidhamidi, 2014). The nurse has many duties that include caring for the patient. They must be efficient, have computer skills, and be familiar with other advanced technologies used in the healthcare setting. With such knowledge, the nurse is able to identify, collect, report, and organize the patient’s information regarding their past and current health challenges, as well as medication dispensing and procedures performed on the patient.

The nurse educator will use advanced technology resources to educate the nurse on how to operate such functions and tools, as well as

instruct them on how to learn new processes (McGonigle et al., 2001). The administrative nurse will be in charge of managing the resources in the most efficient way possible. Nursing informatics are useful because they can better manage patients and hospital accounts to ensure that efficient measures are carried out and that data privacy mechanisms are followed. In terms of informatics competency, this enables nurses to use technology at the point of care to communicate, manage, mitigate errors, and support decision-making (Glassman, 2017). Understanding the fundamental mechanisms of healthcare information and technology is critical to understanding patient safety.

Being a manager in the organization where I’ve been working for over 12 years has given me the opportunity to experiment with various tools and technology. This technology has enabled me and others on the team to improve patient safety measures as well as a patient-centered system. One concept that I believe could be improved is how nurses are educated about technology practices. More educational practices that engage nurses are needed to not only better themselves regarding their duties and responsibilities of patients, but also to ensure that quality measures are met to meet the goals of a positive outcome.

Some of the nurse education programs offered are not in accordance with hospital policies. As a suggestion, educating nurses in both group settings and one-on-one would be an efficient way of achieving the organization’s goals. Ensuring that the education programs adhere to the hospital’s policies will also be beneficial because there will be fewer errors in medication dispensing, charting errors, and new equipment errors that could otherwise be avoided. Without a doubt, advanced technology has provided nurses and other professionals in the healthcare field with powerful tools that allow them to have access to and understanding of informatics as they develop personally and professionally in the field. As a result, better outcomes will be seen in terms of patient care, quality, and satisfaction.

RE: Week 3 Discussion

COLLAPSE

-Many thanks, Lenick.

Consider your organization.

How does the IT or nurse informatics department interact with health care providers?

Do they collaborate?

If so, how so?

You should proofread your paper. However, do not rely solely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part, and your grade will suffer as a result. Papers with a high number of misspelled words and grammatical errors will be penalized. Before submitting your paper, go over it in silence and then aloud, and make any necessary changes. It is often beneficial to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Uncorrected mistakes are preferable to handwritten corrections.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point typeface (10 to 12 characters per inch). Smaller or compressed type, as well as papers with narrow margins or single spacing, are difficult to read. It is preferable to allow your essay to exceed the recommended number of pages rather than attempting to compress it into fewer pages.

Large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are also unacceptable, waste trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced, and have a one-inch margin on all four sides of each page. When submitting hard copies, use white paper and print with dark ink. It will be difficult to follow your argument if it is difficult to read your essay.
