NUR 550 Topic 6 DQ 2

Obesity in Pregnancy has been associated with many complications, exercise in pregnancy has been proven to decrease the effects of obesity on the newborn (Reichetzeder, 2021). Patients are more compliant when they understand the why behind the intervention. Improving maternal health is a major priority for the Department of Health and Human services, education of obesity and use of exercise to prevent this complication (ODPHP, n.d.). Education to the patient of the why and how to fight importance of exercise in pregnancy can share the information to patients. Education of mothers the importance of physician activity and the action plan to guide to safe physical activity can f eve effective. The Move your way campaign is a multichannel communication campaign to promote the physical activity guidelines for pregnancy (ODPHP, n.d.).

Nursing education to patients should be tailored to their education level, culture and language as well as offered in many ways to ensure the information is available easily. The move your way program printed material and also includes videos, social medial support, interactive tool for exercise. Understanding the way patients access information to educate and support health care promotion is how the program will be the most successful. Nurses are the most trusted profession with a teaching intervention that established this trust and offers supportive information on the disease process and how to help prevent becomes a powerful tool that will lead to improved health promotion for mother and baby alike.

I do agree with you that as an appropriate intervention measure involves educational programs that sensitize women on proper nutrition, keeping fit through regular exercise and medical checkup. Educational programs have the power to transform the community way of life and perception about the disease (Lee et al., 2019). In the end the objective of promoting health and reducing the mortality rate associated with cancer is achievable. Nurses have the responsibility to ensure that the method of delivery of the educational program is consistent with the society’s religious, social and economic values. It is imperative to understand the diversity of the communities and ensure that the program is tailor-made to suit the audience. Additionally, the information should be disseminated in a simple language that will be understood by majority of the community members. It is also important to have regular follow-up on the impact of the program and this can be achieved through carrying out oral interviews, surveys and questionnaires (Spiegelman, 2016).

Computed tomography (CT) lung cancer screening is still a relatively new preventative measure that can be approved and covered by health insurance. Therefore, information and communication to these patients is critical. Copeland et. al., (2019) found many barriers for patients to obtain their lung cancer screenings, one of which included patients lack of awareness about screening availability. There are many forms of communication technologies including printed materials, media campaigns, community outreach, and interpersonal communication (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion [ODPHP], 2021). A great way to communicate screening availability is by utilization of registered nurse case managers employed by health insurance companies. Many insurance companies are now asking patients their history or current use of nicotine products during their initial and annual renewal of their insurance policies. Case managers could pull that data and determine patients who qualify for these screenings. They can then complete outreach phone calls to these patients to get them scheduled for their screenings.

The increase of inexplicable maladies that affect healthcare outcomes has been a significant concern in the US. This has led to many healthcare professionals resorting to preventing such maladies because of their devastating effects on human health. As such, health promotion campaigns have been on the rise to teach the general population of effective ways of avoiding such diseases. The need to develop effective interventions for promoting health and wellness across a wide range of people has been one of the most effective and early ways to control diseases (Antonopoulou et al., 2020).

The solution to the increasing lifestyle diseases among the young and old has been a great challenge in the healthcare system. An increase in the number of patients suffering from lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and obesity signifies minimal development of health promotion plans in the communities (Krist et al., 2020). While it is difficult to control the appetite of many people, the healthcare system, through its organized healthcare campaigns, has been effective in training people on diet and the need to adopt a healthy lifestyle. These campaigns are carried out in settings such as clinical settings. Poor eating habits are one of the main issues that have resulted in more healthcare complications. Most people eat more protein and do not participate in body exercise, which ends up affecting their health. The increase in health promotion designs on healthy living has effectively changed the thinking of many people on a diet. The healthcare system has seen a significant increase in people being cautious about their health and ensuring that they have the desired healthy body weight (Ribeiro et al., 2019).
