Credentialing for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) entails possession of the necessary documentations authorized by a regulatory body or institution to participate in or practice certain activities and use particular titles. APRNs get credentials at state level to engage in certain areas of practice. The two main issues or trends impacting credentialing for APRNs include authority for independent practice in certain states and educational standards for effective care delivery. The idea of nurses, especially advanced practice nurses, to practice independently continues to define different research studies’ outcomes and need to improve healthcare systems and delivery of patient-centered care (Arifkhanova, 2017). Barriers to full practice authority like state laws that restrict or reduce the scope of practice and require advanced practice nurses to collaborate with physicians limit their ability to offer primary care interventions and enhance overall access to care. secondly, advanced practice nurses need higher education standards to transition to the more complex and demanding roles as equal partners in care provision alongside physicians. These trends will continue to define the practice as more states pass legislations to reduce practice barriers and allow nurses to practice independently and to full authority based on their training and education.
