Social determinants of health impact nearly all people in one way or another and are critical to provision of quality care and enhancing accessibility, especially among low-income individuals and households. The need for economic stability, education, health care, a better neighborhood and build environment and social and community context impact care delivery. Income inequality is a determinant of health as it implies that individuals without sufficient income due to unemployment cannot have better access to healthcare since they lack medical insurance coverage (Lynch, 2017). The level of income determines if one can have health insurance or not and even with the enactment of progressive policies like the Affordable Care Act 2010, many individuals cannot initiate and sustain better access to care due to limited financial resources. individuals and communities can implement to address the underlying issues that impact healthcare delivery (Healthy People 2030, 2021). Among the issues that the initiative addresses are social determinants of health as critical to the attainment of better health and reducing the overall cost of care. The initiative implores on stakeholders to develop responsive approaches to enhance overall care delivery and ensure that income inequalities do not hinder the provision and access to quality patient care (National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, 2017). The initiative emphasizes the need for stakeholders to address economic stability through poverty eradication, enhancing employment, and increasing food security and better housing.
