Topic 6: Dealing with Change Dynamics
Ethical and Professional Dilemmas
Change processes are common in different organizations. In the healthcare settings, changes are always carried out to ensure quality improvement processes. Changes are always initiated based on the research outcomes. Changes are essential in the healthcare system because they lead to the transformation of healthcare processes which in turn lead to the delivery of quality treatment and general care. Health institutions involved in the continuous change processes often ensure effective patient outcomes and improvement in the quality of care. There are different problems associated with healthcare delivery processes (Mancini et al., 2017). These problems can be solved through introducing changes in different departments. Change processes require effective, experienced, and skilled change leaders who ought to adhere to the required standards of operation.
During the change process, there are ethical and professional dilemmas often faced by the change leaders. These dilemmas should always be solved to ensure effective outcomes in the change process. One of the ethical dilemma that can be faced by nurse leaders is the consideration of patient’s values and at the same time initiating the transformations processes. In most cases,
healthcare professionals are required to maintain high level of ethics, they are required to be part of the treatment processes. Therefore, during the change processes, there is the need to involve patients, the community, as well as other stakeholders associated with the organization. However, nurse leaders may sometimes finds it very difficult to incorporate patients.
Challenges That Affect Implementation of Change
One of the challenges that may impact the implementation of the change process is the lack of resources as well as failure of the change agents to adhere to the stated standards. Lack of effective communication system is another problem that m
ay impact change implementation processes. Another challenge that may impact implementation of change is the lack of effective organization structure capable of overseeing different activities involved in the change processes.
Strategies for Increasing Motivation and Acceptance among Stakeholders
Incorporation of stakeholder’s ideas in the change process is one of the strategies for increasing motivation and acceptance among the stakeholders during the change processes. Sharing the details and framework for the change process is another approach for increasing motivation and acceptance among the stakeholders involved in the change process.
Topic 6 DQ 1
Changes can range from the incorporation of evidence-based practices in the treatment processes to the implementation of technological practices to facilitate the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment processes. Most healthcare institutions operate throughout the day, as a result nurses and other healthcare professionals need to work in shifts to ensure that there is continuity in service delivery to the patients. There are different types of obstacles or objections that leaders always face from stakeholders when initiating and implementing change within an organization. One type of the obstacles are based on the lack of employee involvement. Lack of Effective Corporation from employees as well as the organizational management is the most common barrier that interfere with the change processes. Another type of obstacle or barrier is ineffective communication. Communication is an essential aspect of the change process, it ensures that there is integration of the workforce and sharing of ideas while conducting different activities. Finally, bad culture and shifting planning processes may interfere with the change processes. Organizations that undertake effective change processes have strong and elaborate cultures that enhance the achievement of different aspects of the change process.
Overcoming these challenges is a critical factor in the success of an organization. Stakeholder should develop effective communication framework that will ensure that everyone is integrated into the change process. The stakeholder should also ensure effective corporation with among the stakeholders to ensure effective change processes. Finally, there is the need for the organization to ensure employee involvement through delegating responsibilities and duties, ensuring that everyone is involved in the process of change.
Topic 6 DQ 2
In the change processes, there is always the need for leaders to adhere to the standards of practices in order to ensure effective outcomes. These processes requires the implementation of important changes. In my place of work, there is always a challenge in the management of patient’s data, a scenario that often leads to the increased confusion and medication errors. The change process should therefore involves the incorporation of effective documentation system to reduce clerical errors, enhance the storage of patient information and enhance the delivery of quality care (Kurniawandari & Listiyanawati, 2019). However, in some cases, there are ethical issues that may be experienced by the change leaders. There are always different ethical dilemmas associated with the change leaders. While undertaking organizational changes, I have witnessed change leaders take credit for other people’s contributions or work. The contribution of everyone in the change processes is always significant and the credit should be given to everyone. However, in some cases, only leaders take the credit for everyone’s contribution. Even through leaders coordinate different change processes, they may be entitled to different privileges, however, this does not mean that they are supposed to take credit of the contribution made by everyone. The ethical dilemma was solved through the enhancement of group work. In the change process, the credit was given as a group. In other words, all members of the group received credit for the success of the project.
Change leaders can utilize the standards or guidelines for the change processes when faced with the ethical dilemma. The above approach would ensure that every step is performed or undertaken in line with the required standards.

I strongly encourage that you do not wait until the very last minute to complete your assignments. Your assignments in weeks 4 and 5 require early planning as you would need to present a teaching plan and interview a community health provider. I advise you look at the requirements for these assignments at the beginning of the course and plan accordingly. I have posted the YouTube link that explains all the class assignments in detail. It is required that you watch this 32-minute video as the assignments from week 3 through 5 require that you follow the instructions to the letter to succeed. Failure to complete these assignments according to instructions might lead to a zero. Plagiarism is highly prohibited. Please ensure you are citing your sources correctly using APA 7th edition. All assignments including discussion posts should be formatted in APA with the appropriate spacing, font, margin, and indents. Any papers not well formatted would be returned back to you, hence, I advise you review APA formatting style. I have attached a sample paper in APA format and will also post sample discussion responses in subsequent announcements.
Your initial discussion post should be a minimum of 200 words and response posts should be a minimum of 150 words. Be advised that I grade based on quality and not necessarily the number of words you post. A minimum of TWO references should be used for your initial post. For your response post, you do not need references as personal experiences would count as response posts. If you however cite anything from the literature for your response post, it is required that you cite your reference. You should include a minimum of THREE references for papers in this course. Please note that references should be no more than 5 years old except recommended as a resource for the class. Furthermore, for each discussion board question, you need ONE initial substantive response and TWO substantive responses to either your classmates or your instructor for a total of THREE responses. There are TWO discussion questions each week, hence, you need a total minimum of SIX discussion posts for each week. I usually post a discussion question each week. You could also respond to these as it would count towards your required SIX discussion posts for the week.
I understand this is a lot of information to cover in 5 weeks, however, the Bible says in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. Even in times like this, we are encouraged by God’s word that we have that ability in us to succeed with His strength. I pray that each and every one of you receives strength for this course and life generally as we navigate through this pandemic that is shaking our world today. Relax and enjoy the course!
