Grand Canyon University Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper-Step-By-Step Guide

This guide will demonstrate how to complete the Grand Canyon University Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper  assignment based on general principles of academic writing. Here, we will show you the A, B, Cs of completing an academic paper, irrespective of the instructions. After guiding you through what to do, the guide will leave one or two sample essays at the end to highlight the various sections discussed below.

How to Research and Prepare for Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper

Whether one passes or fails an academic assignment such as the Grand Canyon University Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper depends on the preparation done beforehand. The first thing to do once you receive an assignment is to quickly skim through the requirements. Once that is done, start going through the instructions one by one to clearly understand what the instructor wants. The most important thing here is to understand the required format—whether it is APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.

After understanding the requirements of the paper, the next phase is to gather relevant materials. The first place to start the research process is the weekly resources. Go through the resources provided in the instructions to determine which ones fit the assignment. After reviewing the provided resources, use the university library to search for additional resources. After gathering sufficient and necessary resources, you are now ready to start drafting your paper.

How to Write the Introduction for Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper

The introduction for the Grand Canyon University Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper  is where you tell the instructor what your paper will encompass. In three to four statements, highlight the important points that will form the basis of your paper. Here, you can include statistics to show the importance of the topic you will be discussing. At the end of the introduction, write a clear purpose statement outlining what exactly will be contained in the paper. This statement will start with “The purpose of this paper…” and then proceed to outline the various sections of the instructions.

How to Write the Body for Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper

After the introduction, move into the main part of the Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper  assignment, which is the body. Given that the paper you will be writing is not experimental, the way you organize the headings and subheadings of your paper is critically important. In some cases, you might have to use more subheadings to properly organize the assignment. The organization will depend on the rubric provided. Carefully examine the rubric, as it will contain all the detailed requirements of the assignment. Sometimes, the rubric will have information that the normal instructions lack.

Another important factor to consider at this point is how to do citations. In-text citations are fundamental as they support the arguments and points you make in the paper. At this point, the resources gathered at the beginning will come in handy. Integrating the ideas of the authors with your own will ensure that you produce a comprehensive paper. Also, follow the given citation format. In most cases, APA 7 is the preferred format for nursing assignments.

How to Write the Conclusion for Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper

After completing the main sections, write the conclusion of your paper. The conclusion is a summary of the main points you made in your paper. However, you need to rewrite the points and not simply copy and paste them. By restating the points from each subheading, you will provide a nuanced overview of the assignment to the reader.

How to Format the References List for Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper

The very last part of your paper involves listing the sources used in your paper. These sources should be listed in alphabetical order and double-spaced. Additionally, use a hanging indent for each source that appears in this list. Lastly, only the sources cited within the body of the paper should appear here.

Benchmark – Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper

Clinical nurse leaders usually fall under the broad category of advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs). A CNL is a nursing specialist focused on analyzing, enhancing, and transforming clinical processes and educating other nurses on best clinical practices to promote care continuum within any healthcare setting (Sotomayor & Rankin, 2018). The CNL role is a fusion of direct patient care and leadership role. The purpose of this assignment is to discuss the scope of my future CNL role, explore professional organizations that are influential in advancing the scope and

influence of advanced nursing, and identify a controversial concern that may impact my scope of practice.

Scope of Future Role As An Advanced Registered Nurse

The CNL is a nurse with advanced, master’s level education training and competencies in specialized health system clinical leadership. CNLs are equipped with knowledge, skills, and abilities for evidence-based practice (EBP), quality and safety, care coordination, outcomes management, teamwork, and operational management of a complex micro-system (Sotomayor & Rankin, 2018). Besides, the CNL is a clinician who brings the perception of control for safe and quality care from the administrative setting to the ward’s providers who provide the services. CNLs are engaged with almost every element of patient care and coordination. This makes them trained general clinicians and operation managers rather than focused on providing direct and specialized care to the patient populations they serve.

The duties of CNLs, per their scope of practice, include facilitating patient care using EBP and evaluating care plans and risks

for diverse patient populations. CNLs are mandated to create and oversee safety standards in the patient care environment. They also mentor and support other nurses and coordinate patient care provided by nurses and other healthcare team members. In addition, CNLs are involved in research, and they research and execute healthcare technology trends (Noles et al., 2019). CNLs obtain and analyze patient data to assess the quality of care provided and ensure the providers follow all organization procedures and protocols. Furthermore, they are involved in health education, including reviewing and educating patients and their families on disease prevention, health promotion, and maintenance.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is the body that regulates the scope of the CNL and certifies CNLs. The AACN regulates CNL education by developing competencies and curriculum expectations for degree CNL programs. It also outlines the CNL’s scope of practice and states the duties of the CNL in the healthcare setting (Sotomayor & Rankin, 2018). Nurses pursuing a CNL master’s program must sit for a CNL certification exam provided by the Commission on Nurse Certification (CNC), a branch of the AACN.

Three Professional Nursing Organizations Identified as the Most Influential in Advancing the Scope and Influence of Advanced Nursing

The professional organizations influential in advancing advanced nursing scope and influence are The Nurse Practitioner Association New York State (NPA), the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). The NPA seeks to promote and support high healthcare standards throughout NY State through education, leadership, advocacy, and fostering the empowerment of NP professional practice. The association’s vision is to make sure that all New Yorkers have equal access to NPs devoted to delivering quality patient care that is culturally competent while practicing at the highest level of their licensure (The NPA, n.d.). The NPA values dedication to excellence in public service and organizational and professional accountability. It encourages continuous learning, growth, and discovery and respects the diversity of opinions and contributions. Besides, the association ensures mutually beneficial outcomes for its members and society. Members benefit from education and networking opportunities, practice resources, and opportunities to engage in legislative and public policy activities (The NPA, n.d.). The NPA is the only NY association that works to advance and protect NP practice in New York. It has been engaged in every legislative accomplishment for NP in NY since 1988.

AONL is a national professional organization in the US of nurse leaders and is considered the voice of nursing leadership. AONL’s mission is to revamp health care through expert and influential nursing leadership. Its vision is to have one voice for nursing leadership that advances health for all. AONL members benefit from innovative and competency-based learning experiences to advance nurse leaders’ professional development (AONL, 2019). In light of this, AONL offers physical and online programs for clinical leaders, directors, executives, and managers in shared governance, healthcare finance, certification courses, and emerging leader competencies. Furthermore, AONL influences nursing leadership by driving positive change through a collective voice to foster transformation in healthcare (AONL, 2019). AONL ensures that the perception and needs of CNLs are attended to and addressed in public policy issues concerning nursing and patient care.

The mission of AANP is to empower all NPs to improve quality health care through practice, advocacy, education, research, and leadership. AANP is a community of more than 119,000 NPs working together to strengthen NP practice. It also seeks to enhance patient care by working towards the organization’s vision of high-quality healthcare for all persons by the client’s provider of choice (AANP, n.d.). Membership candidates for the AANP must be graduates of an NP program and be certified by an approved certification body to practice as an NP. Furthermore, members enjoy exclusive benefits like free continuing education and networking opportunities only for members (AANP, n.d.). AANP champions the NP role and influences advanced nursing practice by acting as the voice of NPs.

Professional Organization That Is Most Appealing

AONL is the most appealing professional organization I wish to join in my future practice. This was the most appealing organization because it participates in advocacy activities, including the federal legislative and regulatory arenas. Besides, AONL promotes the value of nursing leadership. Effective nursing leadership is the cornerstone of quality nursing practice. Nurses need supportive leadership to provide high-quality, safe care and attain the organization’s objectives. AONL’s mission aligns with my worldview since it aims at revolutionizing health care through expert and influential nursing leadership (AONL, 2019). Furthermore, AONL serves nurse leaders at every step of their leadership journey, from emerging leaders to experienced executives. Therefore, joining AONL would greatly benefit my future CNL practice since it will guide me when I begin my nursing leadership career. As an AONL member, I will improve my practice through access to the AONL resource library (AONL, 2019). AONL members have unlimited access to the AONL resource library and to content exclusively for members.

Controversial or Evolving Issue That Is Likely To Affect the CNL Role

Innovative technology is an evolving issue in the healthcare field that will likely impact my future role as a CNL. As innovators, CNLs are expected to act as change agents to drive processes and policy and leverage technology to provide better, more affordable care for the patient populations they serve (Rylee & Cavanagh, 2022). CNLs need to stay abreast of new healthcare technology and understand how it will assist them in improving patient care. Besides, CNLs need to be advocates for the healthcare technology that will enable nurses to care for patients better. Thus my CNL role will be impacted since I will be required to promote new technologies in the work setting, like electronic health records, telehealth, and patient registries (Rylee & Cavanagh, 2022). Innovative technology is significant to the advanced registered nurse since they will now be engaged in myriad innovative efforts concerning health IT. Besides, they will be required to improve the quality of nursing care by utilizing health technology at the bedside to enhance patient care.

Conclusion

The CNL is a general clinician prepared to provide direct clinical leadership at the point of care to assure that healthcare delivery is evidence-based and safe and targets optimal quality outcomes for the patient population served by the CNL. The AACN defines the scope and certifies CNLs. NPA New York, AONL, and AANP are some of the professional nursing organizations that are influential in advancing the scope and influence of advanced nursing. AONL is the most appealing organization since it seeks to make the public aware of the invaluable contribution of nursing leadership to the greater healthcare team and in delivering quality patient care. Innovative technology will impact CNLs’ role since they will be required to adopt new technologies in patient care and identify how they can improve healthcare delivery.

Plagiarism is highly prohibited. Please ensure you are citing your sources correctly using APA 7th edition. All assignments including discussion posts should be formatted in APA with the appropriate spacing, font, margin, and indents. Any papers not well formatted would be returned back to you, hence, I advise you review APA formatting style. I have attached a sample paper in APA format and will also post sample discussion responses in subsequent announcements.

Your initial discussion post should be a minimum of 200 words and response posts should be a minimum of 150 words. Be advised that I grade based on quality and not necessarily the number of words you post. A minimum of TWO references should be used for your initial post. For your response post, you do not need references as personal experiences would count as response posts. If you however cite anything from the literature for your response post, it is required that you cite your reference. You should include a minimum of THREE references for papers in this course. Please note that references should be no more than 5 years old except recommended as a resource for the class. Furthermore, for each discussion board question, you need ONE initial substantive response and TWO substantive responses to either your classmates or your instructor for a total of THREE responses. There are TWO discussion questions each week, hence, you need a total minimum of SIX discussion posts for each week. I usually post a discussion question each week. You could also respond to these as it would count towards your required SIX discussion posts for the week.

I understand this is a lot of information to cover in 5 weeks, however, the Bible says in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. Even in times like this, we are encouraged by God’s word that we have that ability in us to succeed with His strength. I pray that each and every one of you receives strength for this course and life generally as we navigate through this pandemic that is shaking our world today. Relax and enjoy the course!

As a nurse, there are many different organizations that being a part of can be beneficial to be a part of depending on where we live or our specialty. Personally, the three nursing organizations I am interested in include the American Nurses Association, Texas Nurses Association, and the Hospice and Palliative Nurse Association. All these organizations support and encourage nurses to advance nursing. As the nursing profession continues to advance, we will be able to make a positive difference in so many more patients’ lives.

The American Nurses Association is one of the most known associations. According to the American Nurses Association (n.d.), their goal is to advance the nursing profession by encouraging higher standards for nurses, promoting safe and ethical work environments, reinforce the health and wellness of nurses, and advocate on issues that affect both nurses and the public. This association is applicable to all registered nurses despite their specialty. The American Nurses Association (n.d.) also reports they assist with anything from resources for career development to lobbying in Congress.

Since I live in Texas, the Texas Nurses Association is very relevant to my career. According to the Texas Nurses Association (n.d.), their goal is to advance the nursing profession and are currently focused on education while also addressing workplace advocacy. The Texas Nurses Association (n.d.) also notes that they improve nursing practice environment and health through policy initiatives. While this is similar to the American Nurses Association, this one is specific to nurses who live and work in Texas.

The final association that interests me is the Hospice & Palliative Nurses Association. According to the Hospice & Palliative Nurses Association (2024), the association represents palliative nursing, including hospice and palliative nurses, supporting them through education programs, research initiatives, and advocacy. As a hospice nurse, this association is well-known for supporting the CHPN, the Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse exam. This exam is taken by experienced hospice and palliative care nurses to evaluate expertise in the field.
