The selected article for the analysis is the research by Mileski et al., (2020). The research investigated the effect of nurse practitioners on discharges and hospitalizations in long-term nursing facilities. The study was a systematic review that utilized evidence from articles that were obtained from databases that included Cumulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Academic Search Ultimate, and PubMEd. The analysis of data obtained from the articles included in the study showed that the utilization of the nurse practitioners in long-term care nursing facilities was associated with decrease in the rate of unnecessary hospitalizations. The study results also showed that there was increased access to healthcare as well as enhanced health outcomes due to the utilization of the nurse practitioners.

The article by Mileski et al., (2020) is associated with a number of strengths. One of them is the fact that it analyzed evidence from multiple sources of data to provide conclusive information about the impact of nurse practitioners. The authors also ensured relevance of the findings by ensuring that articles that focused on the clinical outcomes of care given by nurse practitioners were included in the review. The number of articles that was used in the analysis was also high, providing highly reliable data for clinical use. The research is however associated with the weakness of not using human subjects and failing to account for the methods that were used to address biases in the selected studies.

practitioners in healthcare settings. Health organizations should increase the utilization of care services given by the nurse practitioners, as a way of promoting optimum health outcomes. Health organizations should also incorporate the inputs of nurse practitioners into the decisions that they make to achieve their desired quality, safety and efficiency goals in the provision of patient care. Lastly, states with reduced or limited practice for nurse practitioners should consider revisiting their regulations to ensure unregulated scope of practice for the nurse practitioners.
