Walden University NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library– Step-By-Step Guide
This guide will demonstrate how to complete the Walden University NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library assignment based on general principles of academic writing. Here, we will show you the A, B, Cs of completing an academic paper, irrespective of the instructions. After guiding you through what to do, the guide will leave one or two sample essays at the end to highlight the various sections discussed below.
How to Research and Prepare for NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library
Whether one passes or fails an academic assignment such as the Walden University NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library depends on the preparation done beforehand. The first thing to do once you receive an assignment is to quickly skim through the requirements. Once that is done, start going through the instructions one by one to clearly understand what the instructor wants. The most important thing here is to understand the required format—whether it is APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.
After understanding the requirements of the paper, the next phase is to gather relevant materials. The first place to start the research process is the weekly resources. Go through the resources provided in the instructions to determine which ones fit the assignment. After reviewing the provided resources, use the university library to search for additional resources. After gathering sufficient and necessary resources, you are now ready to start drafting your paper.
How to Write the Introduction for NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library
The introduction for the Walden University NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library is where you tell the instructor what your paper will encompass. In three to four statements, highlight the important points that will form the basis of your paper. Here, you can include statistics to show the importance of the topic you will be discussing. At the end of the introduction, write a clear purpose statement outlining what exactly will be contained in the paper. This statement will start with “The purpose of this paper…” and then proceed to outline the various sections of the instructions.
How to Write the Body for NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library
After the introduction, move into the main part of the NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library assignment, which is the body. Given that the paper you will be writing is not experimental, the way you organize the headings and subheadings of your paper is critically important. In some cases, you might have to use more subheadings to properly organize the assignment. The organization will depend on the rubric provided. Carefully examine the rubric, as it will contain all the detailed requirements of the assignment. Sometimes, the rubric will have information that the normal instructions lack.
Another important factor to consider at this point is how to do citations. In-text citations are fundamental as they support the arguments and points you make in the paper. At this point, the resources gathered at the beginning will come in handy. Integrating the ideas of the authors with your own will ensure that you produce a comprehensive paper. Also, follow the given citation format. In most cases, APA 7 is the preferred format for nursing assignments.
How to Write the Conclusion for NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library
After completing the main sections, write the conclusion of your paper. The conclusion is a summary of the main points you made in your paper. However, you need to rewrite the points and not simply copy and paste them. By restating the points from each subheading, you will provide a nuanced overview of the assignment to the reader.
How to Format the References List for NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library
The very last part of your paper involves listing the sources used in your paper. These sources should be listed in alphabetical order and double-spaced. Additionally, use a hanging indent for each source that appears in this list. Lastly, only the sources cited within the body of the paper should appear here.

Sample Answer for NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library
I am passionate about palliative care, which is my motivation for advancing my degree. The National Institute on Aging (2021) describes palliative care as a supportive specialty focused on the quality of life for patients and loved ones through symptom management and identifying goals of care. Palliative care, also known as comfort care, addresses patients holistically to meet all needs. Unfortunately, there is an enormous number of patients in need of support from this specialty. The World Health Organization (2020) reported, “only about 14% of people who need palliative care currently receive it”, which is overwhelmingly low and motivates me more to specialize in comfort care. Palliation should be encouraged because it can alleviate burdens associated with life-threatening and long-term illnesses.
Palliative care is available in inpatient and outpatient settings. The specialty cares for patients of varying ages, backgrounds, and diagnoses. Since there is a diverse patient population, it is essential to have different healthcare members contribute to care planning. I wanted to show the importance of nurse practitioners (NPs) in palliative care, and I found an article discussing how NPs positively impact this field. Opitz and Hebert (2018) argue that nurse practitioners have shown an increase in quality of life with higher patient satisfaction while providing care at lower costs for more affordable care. This report highlights NPs’ abilities to reduce healthcare barriers and encourages an increase of NPs in the specialty.
In my search for an article, I used CINAHL and found it resourceful. The database has a large selection of journals and articles related to healthcare. CINAHL is easy to navigate, and I recommend that others use it for current and future studies. There are various advanced search options to narrow searches, which allowed me to find an article more promptly. I found the article by entering keywords pertaining to my interest, then limited it to publication years 2012 through 2023 and chose academic journals as the publication type. The advanced search provided me with many peer-reviewed articles focused on palliative care and nurse practitioners. CINAHL is a helpful tool I plan to use for more research.

Sample Answer 2 for NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library
My goal as an MSN student is to one day become an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. The peer-review article I chose is titled “Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Students’ Perceptions of a Debriefing Experience After a Cardiac Emergency High-Fidelity Simulation: A Qualitative Study” (2021). This article can be found in AACN Advanced Critical Care, a journal published by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (2021). As nurses advance their role to becoming acute care nurse practitioners, they need specialized training to prepare them. This study uses a qualitative approach to explore students’ perceptions on whether simulation on emergent situations and debriefing experiences would grow their leadership-related learning abilities (Ali et al., 2021).
Because online search databases typically contain only abstracts, I found it difficult to locate a peer-reviewed journal article in its entirety unless subscribed to that database. Also, after using Walden’s database, I had a hard time locating an article that was recently published, and pertinent to advanced practice nursing in a critical care setting. I am a member of AACN and I have utilized its evidence-based resources for many purposes throughout my career. Experts explain that evidence-based practice is the integration of individual clinical expertise with the best available external clinical evidence from systematic research (Al-Jundi & Sakka, 2017). The AACN is a useful database for students and professionals because it is a professional organization that provides peer-reviewed research that is evidence-based as well as carefully evaluated healthcare information by the guidance of fully qualified experts. This database also includes research and data services that are centered around baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs.
The “AACN Scope and Standards for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Practice” describes and measures the expected level of practice and professional performance for acute care nurse practitioners and offers a practical tool for students, educators, and advanced practice nurses caring for high acuity or critically ill patients and their families (AACN, 2021). Therefore, I would recommend this database to my colleagues who have a goal is becoming an acute care nurse practitioner one day.

Sample Answer 4 for NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library
Peer-Reviewed Article on COVID-19 and Mental Health in the United States
The significant impact of the pandemic on the population’s mental health has been one of the main reasons I pursued my MSN in Psychiatric-Mental Health degree. Its effects on individuals from all walks of life, regardless of race and gender, have been hard to ignore. For this discussion, the article I chose is titled COVID-19 and mental health equity in the United States by Purtle (2020). In this journal, the author discussed that socially disadvantaged groups like those in the low-income brackets and those belonging to racial/ethnic minorities experienced more pandemic-related psychiatric illnesses (Purtle, 2020). Using the database APA PsycInfo, I keyed the words “COVID-19” and “mental health” on the first search field and “United States” on the second field. To expand my search, I included the Boolean “AND.” The search resulted in 470 articles. One setback I encountered was the vast number of articles I generated from my initial inquiry and narrowed my search. To focus my search, I used the “TI” Titles from the optional field, chose FullText, and publication years 2019 to 2021 as my limiters, resulting in 17 articles (Walden University Library, n.d.).
There are many valuable databases available for research and scientific studies. APA PsycInfo is one of them. Like many databases, it contains trusted and credible peer-reviewed articles. However, APA PsycInfo would be more beneficial for those pursuing studies on behavioral and social sciences as it has more choices of psychiatric journals than the MEDLINE database (Eady, Wilczynski, & Haynes, 2008). APA PsycInfo contains one of the most extensive selections, more than 5million scientific papers, focusing on this field (American Psychological Association, n.d.). Therefore, it would be a useful resource for anyone interested in this field of study. I would highly recommend this to my colleagues also pursuing MSN in Psychiatry-Mental Health.

I’ve decided to pursue a career as a psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner. After 28 years of working as a mental nurse, I made the decision to advance my career. The peer-reviewed article used is entitled. “How PMHNP Program Directors Facilitate Psychotherapeutic Skill Acquisition by the authors Wesemann, Convoy, Goldstein, and Melino. I looked for this article by typing “PMHNP” into the Walden library tab. Next, I selected the “peer-reviewed” link on the left and entered the keyword “psychotherapeutic,” I then restricted my search. A list of articles from the Thoreau/EBSCO search engine appeared, and I chose this particular one.
Finding this peer-reviewed article was not difficult for me. The library database at Walden University is quite trustworthy. Yes, I would recommend this database, because it is accessible, and the full articles are available for usage. “A good database should begin with valuable metadata and data”, (Siyavula. n.d.). Criteria used for selecting a good database is using one that is a reliable monitoring and alerting system, (Guo, 2022). This database will be very helpful to my colleagues for the reasons stated above. My search was able to be limited by a large number of alternatives. The Walden library’s EBSCO database has excellent themes and a big selection of articles, therefore I would definitely recommend it.

Sample Answer 7 for NURS 6003 Using the Walden Library
I enjoyed reading your post and I can relate to a lot of what you said in it. I feel that more then ever with the amount of research, journals, articles and opinions that will be published in regard to COVID we need to step back and critically analyze whether the article or data is scholarly. According to Laureate Education “it is important for nurses to conduct research; we are at the bedside and we see problems that need to be addressed that perhaps others would not see” (2018). This is critical when we begin to analyze the data that is being published by multiple parties. We are in a good position to do our own research and start the process of changing what does not work for these patients and we can accomplish this with credible data and peer review research ourselves. As bedside nurses we are in a crucial role to change health care and get our findings out to other organizations that can benefit from what we have learned.
I also agree with you that research poses challenges when using the online libraries. I also struggled with it. When I looked up education and COVID for example I was presented with so much information that it was overwhelming and when I researched it more I found a lot of the information was not scholarly but public press releases and opinions without much data to them. When I was evaluating the articles and journals I relied on the Walden Library’s page on Evaluating Resources for some key points to check for the credibility of the publication. I found a lot of trade publications which according to the library “are written by staff writers or practitioners in a given trade or profession. The intent is to share industry news, trends and advances”( Walden Library, n.d.). Some of the articles are peer reviewed but a majority do not get peer reviewed. In the future I am going to use your recommendation to use the “Advanced Search” tab and see if I cannot rein in some of the topics that come up when I do a complete search. This may help with some of my frustration and time it takes me to research articles. Thank you.

Thank you, Connor, for this excellent post. I read with great interest your recommendations. Understanding the library’s dynamic can be difficult at first, but the more we use it the easier it will get. One feature I like is the Course Guides. It helps me to “jump” into the course material without returning to the course page. Occasionally, the number of articles to locate and review can be overwhelming, especially if we are taking more than one course at the same time. The Course Guides section takes you directly to the required reading of a specific course and offer assignment help (Walden University, 2020a).
As an international student I can tell you that the library is user-friendly. Language difficulties, cultural differences and lack of prior library experience are the key barriers to library use amongst international students (Murray & Preston, 2016). However, Walden Library makes it easy for us. Like you, I strongly recommend the use of the library to help us advance academically.
